How To Use Plate Viewer + Editor

Start with a file

Use Choose file to pick a CSV or XLSX file.

You can also drag a file onto the upload box.

The viewer reads the file in your browser. Your uploaded plate data is not sent to the server.

Load saved work

Use Load saved... to open a file saved in this browser.

Use Save after loading or editing a file.

Saved files stay in browser storage for this site.

Read the plate view

Each stage is shown as a column.

Each plate appears inside its stage.

Hover over a filled well to see sample details.

Select samples

Click a filled well to select it.

Click select all on a plate to select every sample on that plate.

When all samples on a plate are selected, the button changes to deselect all.

Click empty space or press Escape to clear selections.

Color and filter

Use Color by to color wells by a metadata column.

Use Filter to show one value from one column.

These controls appear after a file is loaded.

Use the table

Use Table to open the side table.

Double-click a table cell to edit it.

Double-click a filled well to edit that row in a small popup.

Use open table in that popup to open the table and jump to the row.

Add rows from empty wells

Double-click an empty well to create a new row.

The table opens and scrolls to the created row.

Fill in values in the popup then click Done.

Transfers and layout tools

Use Show Transfers to inspect detected transfer paths.

Transfer detection is beta and currently based on a 6 Channel Pipette.

Use Optimize Layout to try the layout optimizer.

The optimizer is beta. Use it at your own risk.

Changes

Use Changes to view edits made in this browser.

Click a change to see the revert prompt.

Use Preview to view the plate state after that change without editing it.

Use Exit Preview to return to your current file.

Use Fork to save that state as a new local file with -fork in the name.

Use Download changelog to save an uploadable changelog.

Use Add changelog to import a compatible changelog.

Export

Use Export in the table panel to download a CSV.

Check Include pipetting operations to add detected operations.

Check Export uploadable changelog to download the changelog with the CSV.
